Proposed Sports Facility at Dean Bank
Portfolio Holder - Councillor Miss Eileen Martin
Work has recently commenced on site at Dean Bank Park and the former Ferryhill Athletic football ground to build a new million pound sports facility for local residents.
This follows six years of dedicated work by Town Council staff and the volunteers at Ferryhill Town Youth. These efforts enabled the Town Council to secure over £1 million in grant funding to fund the whole project at no cost to local taxpayers whatsoever.
Further grants will be pursued in the coming months and a new “Friends of Dean Bank Park” group will be established to drive the project forward. The construction work on the new changing facility incorporating a café area and public toilets will be completed together with the relaying of the football pitches in the Park as well as those at the Former Ferryhill Athletic Ground.
Extensive consultation will be undertaken to ensure that the phase 2 regeneration of the park is as successful as phase 1 will be.
